The Anfield club’s parade through the streets of Liverpool to show off the league cup trophy and the FA Cup trophy brought out the smiles in the players again, after the downturn they had when they lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid in Paris.
Around half a million red supporters were present during the parade.
Both Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson appeared to be far down after the end of the match at the Stade de France, but less than a day later the Liverpool duo enjoyed life on top of an open bus in Liverpool.
– I did not think it was possible after last night, but today was one of the best days of my life, Henderson wrote on Instagram after the parade, at the same time as he thanked everyone red.

After the loss to Real Madrid on Saturday night, it felt pointless for many to have a parade, but in terms of motivating the players ahead of next season, the parade may have been a chess move on the part of Liverpool FC.
This Liverpool team is only the fifth team in English football to have won both national cups in the same season, which of course deserves a celebration. And what a celebration it was!
– I am so proud to be part of this football club, my team, the fans and this season. For a day it was yesterday, and we really needed this as a team after what happened in Paris, writes Virgil van Dijk on Instagram.
– It has been a roller coaster season. We have played all the matches it was possible to play, and everyone contributed to it. We will go with our heads held high, and learn from everything we have been through as a team.
– This was my comeback season, and now I’m really looking forward to next season!
– From the bottom of my heart, thank you! Not just for yesterday, but for the support throughout the season. I love you, the Dutchman concluded.

James Milner was also very impressed that so many supporters showed up to celebrate the team’s triumphs the day after a demoralizing Champions League defeat.
– When you think there is no longer anything in football that can surprise you, this happened on Sunday! I could not believe what I saw, and still can not believe it. This was an incredible way to end a fantastic season, the vice captain writes on Instagram.
– Now we also kept what we promised in 2020. It is not enough to just say thank you for the enormous support from our supporters. For a club, he adds.

– To the Liverpool fans in Paris, what happened there was a scandal. You deserve so much better, and someone must be held accountable for what happened. I hope you all came home unscathed, writes Andy Robertson on his Instagram, before adding:
– To the fans in Liverpool, I will never forget today’s parade. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! This means a lot to the players. It’s been a long season, and we could not have fought to the end without you by our side. See you next season. YNWA.
