Venezuela participated this Wednesday in the 67th Session of the United Nations (UN) Commission on the Legal and Social Condition of Women.
The speech was given by the Minister for Women, Diva Guzmán, who highlighted the role of women in the advances of Science and Technology.
Her speech was made through a video where she called for closing the digital gap that exists for women.
The Minister highlighted the advances that women currently present in solving problems in the field of Science and Technology.
In his speech, Guzmán emphasized that the Venezuelan woman is to be admired given her resistance to adversity in various fields.
He stressed that they have “demonstrated an admirable action of resistance to adversity in very diverse fields, including the field of agricultural sciences.”

She also emphasized that Venezuelan women have contributed ideas for food sovereignty, “as high-level researchers.”
He pointed out that his contribution to science “identifies, for example, the variety of autochthonous seeds that require preservation with gene banks”, highlighted the Minister.
Contribution of the Venezuelan woman to combat Covid 19
Guzmán stressed in his speech before the UN the participation of Venezuelan scientists in the genomic sequencing of Covid-19.
Emphasizing that the Venezuelans occupy the fourth position of the Ibero-American countries in investigations in this matter.
She also said that “in recent years the participation of women in science has been important to solve complex problems.”
