This virus and the conspiracies that break friendships | Viewpoints | Opinions | The sun

POINT OF VIEW / The virus hits us hard, in many ways. One aspect that we have barely touched on is the impact on our friendships. Even long-standing ones – in my case, especially – did not survive.

Au least three of these ruptures are indirectly linked to COVID-19. Including the one with a nice 75-year-old lady – who will perhaps recognize herself – who sees this pandemic as a fallacious nonsense in which she does not believe at all, rather liking the risk.

I knew this lady at the Maison de la Littitterature, nine months before the crisis. We became friends, to the point of exchanging our emails. And to send him a copy of one of my novels, entitled The right wants to kill me!

Premonitory title? Still, she bought the thesis of the conspirators, that she defended it in our texts on Messenger. Before breaking up with me, on a donkey kick, about the travelers who went to the South, evoking a “karma”. Phew!

What has become of her since? Mystery and rubber ball … And I want to know more or less, as his thesis of negation of the virus in connection with a “karma” horrifies me. But it remains a lost friendship at the hands of COVID-19.

This damn virus that breaks friendships, grrr …!
