But luckily thanks to technological sophistication, they can still communicate with each other even though they can’t meet each other physically. Knowing the feeling of longing that is often experienced by LDR couples, a man makes a cellphone accessory so they can kiss.
Is Remote Kiss, a cellphone accessory that made a splash when it was released some time ago in the Chinese market. At first glance, the accessory looks like a mobile phone stand so that it can be erected when needed to make video calls. But when you look again, this object has a lip-shaped accent. Not just a unique detail, it is said that the feature is an intermediary for couples who want to kiss online.
Reported by the Global Times, Remote Kiss has technology that relies on pressure sensors, actuators, and soft silicone to mimic the kissing experience. For two lovers to have the same experience, they need to kiss simultaneously and turn on the internet connection and enter the app. Not only the movement of the lips, the tool is also said to be able to make a kissing sound.
According to its inventor, Jiang Zhongli, the idea for Remote Kiss himself came to mind when he was creating it for a university project inspired by his own experience. Jiang then patented it in 2019 but the patent will expire later this year because it needs to be released quickly. He also admitted that he was surprised that his findings went viral and hoped that testimonials from people could improve the design of his products.
“When I was in college, I was in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend so we only contacted each other with cellphones, that’s where I got the inspiration for this tool,” he said.
Previously, a similar tool had appeared which was intended for LDR couples to be able to kiss. But Remote Kiss is controversial because it allows users to kiss other people, even strangers, through their application. Users can even upload their ‘kisses’ for others to experience.
Remote Kiss went viral after many netizens discovered the strange device on the shopping site Taobao. These cellphone accessories are sold quite expensive, namely 288 yuan or Rp. 635 thousand.
