This video does not prove that Kamala Harris was not vaccinated against covid-19

A video is circulating on Facebook and X showing Kamala Harris, vice president and Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States, receiving a vaccine against covid-19. However, the publications claim that this is false.

In the recording, 1:14 minutes long, the message is overlaid: “Kamala Harris Vice President of the United States This is how the politicians deceived you” (sic). In addition, you can see the watermarks of the TikTok accounts @roydeblon and @yessicatamasar.

At the bottom of the video, a woman responds by saying: “Gentlemen, watch this video. Kamala Harris getting the vaccine and look, you can’t see anything when she’s getting the vaccine, but when the lady lowers the syringe, look at the syringe, she turns it around and injects herself arranged it with the chair and like her, everyone, everyone who has power and they sent us like little robots to get the vaccine and we kept to the rule. And they put out that they got the vaccine. No politician, no government entity, nothing, not even the doctors themselves, gentlemen. Those who sent us the vaccine did not receive the vaccine. It was for all of us. Look again” (sic).

The video then slowly shows the nurse giving Harris the vaccine and then apparently bending the syringe with the arm of the chair. In addition, they show a close-up of the nurse’s hand.

The video was broadcast on August 23 in the Facebook group The Island 2024 and by the user Rafael Gonzalez. That same day, it was also posted by user X ‘Alicia Y Ethor’ (@Alicia45531971) with the message: “KAMALA HARRIS is cheating by getting vaccinated from COVI” (sic).

At Colombiacheck we verify the publications and confirm that they are false. Vice President Kamala Harris received the Covid-19 vaccine. The item the nurse wraps is a protective syringe cover, used to prevent sharps injuries.

Original video is from 2020

We look for the video on the TikTok account @roydeblon and we found out that it was published on June 27, 2023 with the message: “And they made us get vaccinated, further proof of the bakery fallacy.” The post has 1,371 views and 131 likes.

This video has been retweeted by a TikTok account @sicatamasar on July 26, 2023 and it went viral. The post has over a million views and over 31,000 likes.

On December 29, 2020, Kamala Harris received the first dose of Moderna’s vaccine against covid-19 live on television at the United Medical Center, a clinic in Washington.

We review the original video of the Harris vaccine, published by Noticias Telemundo, and we confirm that the syringe needle appears in the recording. Also, what the nurse is wrapping is the protective cover.

Between seconds 12 and 14 of the video, you can see the nurse remove the cap from the syringe and vaccinate Harris. In the images you can see a purple substance flowing out from above the syringe.
This video does not prove that Kamala Harris was not vaccinated against covid-19

After giving the vaccine, the nurse will put the purple material on the arm of the chair and wrap it.

What does the nurse wrap?

It is a plastic protector that comes with the syringe and is used to cover the needle after giving an injection. Guide for the World Health Organization regarding the use of safety-engined syringes, states as follows:

“SIP syringes have a mechanism that covers the needle after the injection is given. The purpose is to prevent needle stick injuries, especially to health care workers, but also those who handle sharps. “

This misinformation had already circulated in 2021 and 2022 and was refuted by our colleagues at the Checkerfrom Peru, and Checkedfrom Argentina.

In conclusion, we classify as false the publications that indicate that Kamala Harris’ vaccination against covid-19 was a fake. The Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States received the vaccine, and what the nurse wraps in the images is the syringe protector, used to prevent sharp injuries.
