This Valuable Star Fox Illustration Nearly Ended Up in the Trash

Collector Chris Stokes reveals how he nearly let an original Star Fox illustration end up in the trash.

The first Star Fox it was released on the Super Nintendo in 1993. Since then, the franchise has been established, with Star Fox Zero for Wii U being its last installment. It is a saga very dear to fans like Chris Stokes, a collector who was about to throw it away a original illustration by Star Fox made by Takaya Imamura himself.

For those who don’t know, Takaya Imamura was the original artist for the franchise.. During the development of the Super Nintendo game, he hand-drawn the entire Star Fox squad, featuring Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, and Slippy Toad. Stokes managed to get his hands on this valuable illustration by chance, and left it in the office where he worked.

One day, he found out that everything in the office was going to end up in the trash, so he didn’t hesitate for a second to run out and get it back because, as he has confirmed Dylan Cuthbert, one of the game’s programmers, it was an original drawing. It was one of Imamura’s first designs to shape the characters of the video game and the franchise and, were it not for the rush of this collector, this valuable Star Fox illustration would have been trashed.
