This time there will be no budget, instead vote on account: Finance Minister hinted

2024 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said not to expect any announcements in the budget to be held on February 1. As elections are due, the upcoming budget will be a vote-on-account only. She also hinted that the full budget will be in the month of July.

The Finance Minister was speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Global Economic Policy Forum. They said they will have to wait for the general elections to make announcements.

Vote on account is only an interim budget. All it does is seek approval from the Parliament for the current government to spend until the new government comes in.
