NYPDs are looking for this man who was filmed pushing a passenger onto the Brooklyn subway tracks before fleeing on Friday afternoon.
The NYPD released CCTV footage of the incident and confirmed that the victim was not hit by a train but was physically injured.
The unidentified suspect “intentionally pushed” the passing 32-year-old male victim, pushing him onto the Wyckoff Avenue and Myrtle Avenue subway station platforms at around 2:40 pm, the NYPD said in a statement late Saturday.
In recent months, New York City has been devastated by numerous high-profile violent crimes, including in its subway system, prompting officials to improve their crime-fighting strategies.
The NYPD has reinforced in the subway
Security is strengthened in the New York City subway with more police deployed to cope with the rise in violent crime. This was announced Saturday by the mayor of the metropolis, Eric Adams, and the governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hochul, according to the American media. The action plan also includes better monitoring of people with severe psychological disorders and the use of more surveillance cameras in subways.
Although New York is a relatively safe city, the “Big Apple” has long been facing an increase in crime on public transportation. According to the American media CNN, the crime figures increased by 40% over the previous year. Most of the crimes are not violent, they are mainly thefts, but this does not exclude that they feed the concern of the population.
