As successor to Daniel Craig many big names have passed in review for the role of James Bond. Now does superstar Dwayne Johnson also an attempt.In an interview with Esquire, The Rock indicates that he really likes the role and that it “Very, very cool” would be if he could play the part.

Interesting detail is that Johnson’s grandfather, actor and wrestler Peter Maivia, also once had a small role in a Bond film. He played one of the sidekicks of villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in You Only Live Twice and thus faced the James Bond of Sean Connery.
Johnson does not like a villain role in the series.“I would like to follow in his footsteps and play in a Bond film. Not as a villain, but as James Bond.”

Given the other candidates for the role of the new James Bond, it seems unlikely that we will ever get a Bond played by Dwayne Johnson. But since his films bring in a lot of money, he can of course always try.
If the Bond films have to move more in the direction of action comedies in the future, he can suddenly come into the picture.
