This summer’s trendy pedicure

If there’s one time of year when getting a pedicure makes perfect sense, it’s summer. With the wide range of open-toe shoes available to us, taking care of your toenails is a no-brainer. We know this well, Trends from the 90s-2000s keep coming back into fashion.

A well-known pedicure confirms once again that beauty trends are cyclical: we are of course talking about the French Pedicure. This trend, considered “has been” recently, is back on the scene to enhance our feet this summer. Focus on this glamorous resurgence.

The French: a timeless nail art trend?

First, a little background: the French manicure was invented in 1975 by Jeff Pink, founder of the American nail polish brand Orly. Originally, this natural-looking manicure was designed to help film actresses save time between two wardrobe changes.

Simple, classic and feminine, it quickly won over women of the 80s, 90s and 2000s, becoming a must-have in beauty salons. Given its success, the French manicure was adapted into a pedicure version, applying the same codes: a nude base with a crisp white border.

How to do a French Pedicure?

Performing a “French Pedicure” at home is easier than it seems. To do this, start with a foot bath to soften the skin and cuticles. A French Pedicure requires that you have at the beginning healthy nails. This is why it is advisable to use a cuticle pusher to gently remove the cuticles, then file your nails to give them a square shape with rounded edges (but in reality and this is an advantage of this pedicure, it matches all nail shapes, so you can achieve the one you want).

Apply a clear base coat to ensure a good prepare your nails to receive the varnish. Now take your slightly pink nude varnish and apply a first coat on your nails. Once dry and depending on the result you prefer, you can apply a second coat to obtain a more pronounced shade.

We move on to the most delicate step, that of the famous white line characteristic of the French. Use a fine brush and draw a white line on the free edge of each of your nails. If you have two left hands and therefore dexterity isn’t really your thing, don’t panic.

You can use an adhesive strip that will take the shape of your nail, you just have to place it up to the limit where you want your white strip to start and paint over it (it must be admitted that it is still a little more practical).

To finish off beautifully, add a layer of top coat to your nails to maximize the hold of your pedicure.

Why is the French Pedicure making a comeback?

If the “French Pedicure” is making a comeback this year, it is because pedicures (just like manicures) elegant, discreet and simple are highly acclaimed by beauty addicts. We must admit that this pedicure manages to enhance the feet without overdoing it and that’s what we like.

With the comeback of minimalist looks and purifiedthe “French Pedicure” is a top choice for those who love clean aesthetics. The observation that can be made is that in one way or another most of the trends born in the 90s-2000s are coming back into fashion, this one was not likely to escape this phenomenon.

What is certain is that all those who adopt this pedicure are likely to love wearing flip-flops, sandals or even mules (and we understand why).
