After a month of January marked by the release of the second season of Amateurs and the mini-series Welcome to Chippendales, Disney+ recently unveiled its February release calendar. From this Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the American platform has posted the final episode of the mini-series Hannibal as well as the first seasons of the documentary series Lines of predators et Chefs vs Wild. Millions of subscribers to the streaming service also get access to new episodes of the animated sitcom The Great North and series Cool Attitude : Encore plus cool. More, we must not miss the posting of seasons 8 to 15 of the sitcom Philadelphiawith previous seasons already available on the streaming platform.
A cult series that started from scratch
As a reminder, Philadelphia (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia in VO) follows the adventures of a group of friends who run Paddy’s Pub, a seedy Irish bar in Philadelphia. Although each is endowed with very different characters, the main characters have in common to be dishonest, selfish, greedy, unscrupulous, quite lazy and to drink a lot. If this series is now considered cult in the United States, you should know that it was created with next to nothing. Rob McElhenney recruited his friends Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day to shoot two pilot episodes, which cost only a hundred dollars. Despite the lack of means, it would seem that the trio’s humor pleased the FX channel, which bought their pilot and helped them become a real phenomenon on American television.

A renewed series until its season 18
Charlie Kelly, Ronald McDonald and Dennis Reynolds are not ready to give up their place. In December 2020, several American media announced the renewal of Philadelphia. FX has renewed the sitcom for four more seasons, up to an 18th season. Very good news that was announced as part of the Walt Disney Company Investor Day. Philadelphia became the longest-running sitcom in American television history, surpassing The Adventures of Ozzie and Harrietan old series from the 1960s. Quite a feat when you consider that popular series such as Friends, The Big Bang Theory or Modern Family stopped long before.
