Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte believes his side’s Premier League top four hopes rest with Arsenal and Manchester United.
Spurs are currently fifth in the league standings. The fourth-placed Gunners are three points ahead of them with a game in hand. Meanwhile, the sixth-placed Red Devils are one point behind Conte’s team.
Tottenham Hotspur have recently shown improvement after not being consistent all season. Their great 3-2 win over Manchester City last month was impressive.
However, Conte believes finishing in the top four this season will be incredibly difficult, considering the momentum from Arsenal and Manchester United’s elite squad. He told reporters (via sports mirror):
“It is correct to underline that this goal is very, very difficult. We are not the only team that wants to try to make this miracle. There is also Arsenal who at the moment have an advantage, and then there is United.”
“United is the (top) team that is struggling a lot this season. Last season, it was Liverpool. For the rest in England, I keep repeating, you play for other whites. Because there are four first, which at the moment are stronger clubs than the others, for many reasons.
He also expressed doubts about his team’s chances of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League, saying:
“And this season depends on Manchester United. At the moment, we are among the teams that have to try to be very close and take advantage if someone fails this season. If you ask me about the past, about our chance of reaching a place in the Champions League, I would say that it would be very, very, very difficult.
