THIS scene made the owner make this blatant decision!

For years, there has been a bitter dispute in the catering and hotel industry about the question: are children allowed in or not? In Berlin, several cafés had already drawn a lot of resentment for their decision not to let prams into the latte macchiato paradise. Bollards prevented mothers from driving their buggies into the restaurant. The argument was that space was a problem, but the operators in Prenzlauer Berg and Moabit drew a lot of criticism.

In the meantime, more and more hoteliers are also declaring children to be undesirable people: adults should be able to experience their vacation without the faxes of the irrepressible little ones – the hotel operators are also splitting opinions with this. Now a café in Lower Saxony has fueled the discussion with two juicy Facebook posts.

The behavior of the parents infuriated the boss of the coffee berry

In it, the operator of the Kaffeebeere in East Frisian Esens, the barista Martin Helwig, explains why he no longer feels like entertaining children under the age of ten.

The decisive factor was a turbulent scene in the café: a family was in the restaurant with their two children. “At least” one of the two children jumped from the stairs next to the table – a “dangerous situation”, emphasizes the coffee berry boss. But what made him mad was the behavior of his parents. According to the Facebook post, the mother was on the phone, and the father didn’t bother about what the children were doing either.

He has nothing against children, says café operator Helwig, on the contrary! But such scenes are piling up, according to him: “Something like this used to happen maybe once a month, sometimes once a week.” But the scene described is only the tip of the iceberg after five years of coffee berries. He sees “the development that parents no longer feel responsible for their children”.

Although the parents are the problem, the punishment now hits their children: they are still welcome, but not inside the café. This contradicts “the idea of the cozy character of a coffee lounge”. Children under the age of ten are still “welcome” outside on the terrace.
