This Saturday, the residents’ book of the San José Home will be presented

As part of the upcoming Tandil Book Fair, the elderly residents of Hogar San José will present their collective work entitled “El helado gigante” (The Giant Ice Cream). It will take place on Saturday, August 17th, starting at 11 a.m.

This children’s story was written by the residents of the home and has illustrations made by students from Room 5 of the kindergarten of the Santa Catalina School in the Sierra, at the end of 2023.

The presentation will take place next Saturday, August 17 at 11 a.m. in the Eduardo Rodríguez del Pino room. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to support the Hogar San José, which provides care and support to senior citizens in Tandil.

“The Giant Ice Cream” is the result of a creative experience carried out in conjunction with the “Big Shameless Ones”, a group of residents of the home that includes Cachita (84 years old), Eduardo (86), Marta (81), Mario (63) and Luisa (91). Between October and December 2023, these authors developed the story through games, dynamics and situations recreated with Playmobil dolls.

Cachita, 84, was not only in charge of the cover drawing, but also suggested the title of the story, inspired by a personal writing. This work is a testament to the collaborative spirit of the “NA-NI-NU” project, which promotes collective creation through teamwork, collaboration and experimentation.

Behind the initiative promoted by Rodrigo there is a message: to encourage older people to do new activities, in line with their interests and desires, as well as creative stimulation, teamwork and creating activities for enjoyment at the San José Home.

We invite you not to miss the opportunity to support this initiative and enjoy a work that reflects the talent and creativity of our seniors. We look forward to seeing you there!
