In his little house lost in the Perche countryside, in Verrières (Orne), Nicole Auffret lives alone, or almost. Her two cats keep her good company every day, and an acquaintance comes to help her load wood for her stove, the only source of heat in her living room where she has now set up her bed for more convenience.
Because at 78 years old, Nicole, diabetic, has a hard time getting around. From time to time, she suffers from what she calls “comatose discomfort”.
At the beginning of February, on returning from the kitchen, she was taken by this mysterious illness. “I was like devastated. I fell stiff and hit the kitchen chair before I found myself on the floor. When I came to myself, I created a hallway with what I had on hand, to crawl to my bed, ”explains the retiree at home, who no longer leaves the lying position.
His mistake may be to wait 10 days before calling the neighboring hospital of Nogent-le-Rotrou.
Paracetamol
“The Samu then takes me to the hospital so that I have X-rays, because I was really in pain in my back and in my hips. During the journey, it was unbearable. It was during this treatment at the hospital that Nicole described inappropriate treatment on the spot.
“I was left alone in a waiting room on a chair. I stayed there for 2 hours in pain. If she feels that she was treated perfectly by the nurses during her X-rays, it will not be the same for her discussions with a young nurse who returned her exams and came to the news from time to time.
“He ended up telling me that I didn’t have anything broken and that I had to go home. I still wanted to talk to a doctor. I explained to him that I did not have a car here, and that I would like to be brought back by ambulance because I was in a lot of pain. He replied that my children, inhabitants of Paris, had only to come down and pick me up. “
“You haven’t prayed enough”
“They made fun of me,” says the old lady in a cry of anger which immediately gives her pain in the hip. “I need to calm down,” she sighs.
Tired, she will then suggest to the nurse to call a dealership near the hospital so that she can buy a car to go home. “He didn’t want to bring in the Samu, but finally gave in. I had no choice anyway ”. Complaining of her sharp pain in her chair, she asks aloud: “But what could I have done to the good Lord?” “.
“You probably haven’t prayed enough Madam,” the nurse would have replied with a sneer. “He gave me a prescription for medicine before going out. Guess what ? Three boxes of paracetamol only… ”
Back home, Nicole will spend the night in the cold with a stove turned off since she left. “I couldn’t stand up,” she argues. Now she has her meals delivered and spends most of her time lying on her side, where the pain is less severe. She must take additional exams at the end of March in Chartres.
“I especially want to tell people who are despised in the hospital, that they should not let it go. It is unacceptable to be treated like that. If Caramel, her little red cat, brings her hugs and comfort, Nicole Auffert is clearly not reassured about her state of health. “If I suffer every day like this, I won’t make it through the year. “
Contacted, the management of the Nogent-le-Rotrou hospital affirms that they cannot express themselves because of medical confidentiality. She explains that she will quickly contact Nicole Auffert.
