This Photographer Accuses Capcom of Stealing Photos for Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry Games

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Capcom stumbled upon a problem related to the use of hundreds of photos without the owner’s permission to be used as images asset inside game, as Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry.

As reported Polygon, Sunday (6/6/2021), photographer Judy A. Juracek filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in a Connecticut court, USA.

In her lawsuit, Judy accused Capcom has used images from his book Surfaces for some of the company’s best-selling games without his permission.

According to the lawsuit filed by Polygon, Judy traveled the world photographing various designs as part of her research and compiling the resulting photographs into a book and CD-ROM that was copyrighted in 1996.

If there are parties who want to use the pictures in the book, they can directly contact Judy to ask for the license.

However, Judy claims Capcom never contacted her to use the images in her book.

He also gave almost 100 examples of photos that he claims can be found in the games he made Capcom, including Resident Evil 4.
