“Give ideas what can be done, where to signal,” a man urges on Facebook
A man lies on a bench in the center of Sofia in sub-zero temperatures. This is signaled by concerned residents of the capital, who are looking for a way to help him.
“The bench is located on Macedonia Square. This man sleeps there 24/7, it doesn’t work. It’s fucking cold outside. From the blocks they screw him. Give ideas on what can be done, where to signal,” a resident of Sofia calls on Facebook.
Residents of Sofia advise to call 112 or the municipality, from where the person in distress should be placed in a crisis center. But there is a condition.
“There are many homes for the homeless that offer them shelter, social assistance and a doctor. But they don’t go there because they shouldn’t be drunk. Everything has a price, so the choice is theirs”, says Elena Kyoseva.
“There is a lack of workers in animal husbandry, but they hardly feel like working,” adds Petar Tsankov.
“If it was a dog, they’d go out of their way to save it, but it’s not,” commented another user.
“There is another person in the neighborhood in this situation. I took him food and talked to him, but I came to the conclusion that this will not help him. He needs care, a psychologist and time to get results. He did not want to call social services worries and I can’t ignore his opinion and think I know what is best for him. He has a dog friend and it is not desirable for them to be separated so as not to traumatize him further. I am thinking of suggesting that he clean the inter-block space and pay him? Please advice,” urges another.
