Jasmiina continued to take painkillers for her ailments, until after the new year, the pains got so bad that Jasmiina went to the emergency room. This time was not the only one, but the celebrity beauty has had to go to the emergency room later as well.

Jasmiina’s investigations are still ongoing. At this stage, she has been found to have, among other things, an ovarian cyst. The doctors suspect that Jasmiina also suffers from at least endometriosis. According to the definition of the Health Library, it is a disease of the endometrium, in which tissue similar to the endometrium occurs outside the uterus.

A change to the discussion culture

Although Jasmiina thinks that Finnish healthcare works well, she has had to demand treatment for herself, because they have tried to explain her symptoms with menstrual pains.

Jasmiina believes that the suspicious attitude of the nursing staff is due to the prevailing discussion culture and social attitudes. Jasmiina has suffered from severe menstrual pains all her life, so she is familiar with belittling.

– I’ve already been told when my period starts that women’s pains are just part of it. I remember once having such severe stomach pains that I couldn’t even go to school. She has told me that women’s lives are like that.

Jasmiina would like to not have to defend herself in times of real need.

– I’ve now realized in the middle of all this that it can’t be like that. You should have applied for various studies earlier. It’s not normal that I’m in so much pain for four days out of the month that I eat a packet of burana in four days or I vomit because of my period.

– I think it’s wrong if I go to the emergency room crying because of pain, that they question me there. I have always known that this pain is not normal pain.

The flow of information has also been challenging. Jasmiina has had to follow the course of treatment and examinations through her own account, because communication with the medical staff is very difficult.

Jasmiina states that women’s diseases and illnesses should be talked about more. For example, she herself knew almost nothing about endometriosis before, even though its prevalence is up to 10 percent of women of childbearing age, according to the Health Library.

In the episode published on February 23, Jasmiina told the listeners and her co-host Niko Saarinen about her health. Illness has dominated his life lately. Jasmiina burst into tears when she said that she cannot live a normal life.

– For the first time in my life, it is the case that something like this affects everyday life. It makes you think, a lot of things. I don’t want to cry because I’ve cried so much about this at home. I’m just so sore… Jasmiina burst into tears.

– When you can’t live normally… It’s really hard. It causes a lot of stress. I’ve had to cancel work assignments, for example, because I don’t know how sore I’ll be tomorrow morning, Jasmiina continued.
