Of RealMe GT Neo 5which today in China has been revealed, supports charging up to 240W. According to RealMe, the 4600 mAh battery of the new phone can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 9.5 minutes. This makes it the fastest charging smartphone on the market. The battery capacity of 4600 mAh is comparable to that of many other Android phones.
The improved fast charging technology is especially useful for users who have little time to connect their device to the charger. According to Realme, only 30 seconds of charging gives enough battery life to make calls for 2 hours. After 80 counts, the battery is 20 percent charged and after 4 minutes it is 50 percent full.
The phone uses a 20V/12A adaptor. After 1600 charges from 0 to 100 percent, 80 percent of the battery capacity would still be retained.
LED lighting on the back
The new smartphone also has a special LED rectangle on the back that can light up to indicate a new notification. The rectangle also glows red when the battery level falls below 20 percent. Realme is not the first phone manufacturer with such LED lighting on the back: the Nothing Phone 1 also has several light strips built in.
Oppo and OnePlus
The Realme GT Neo 5 has a 6.74 inch OLED screen with 144 Hz refresh rate and works with last year’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. There are three cameras on the back, including a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
The Chinese prices of the GT Neo 5 start at around 450 euros, but whether and when the device will be launched in Europe is not yet known.
More may be known about this at the end of this month during the Mobile World Congress. Oppo already gave a demonstration of a 240W phone at that event last year, but the brand has not yet released it. Realme is part of the same parent company as Oppo and OnePlus.
Samsung on iPhone
In addition to the 240W version, the new Realme phone is also available in a cheaper version with ‘only’ 150W charging.
For comparison: the new one Samsung Galaxy S23 charges at 25W and the Plus and Ultra model at 45W. The iPhone 14 charges up to 50 percent in about 30 minutes with a separately available 20W charger.
