Photos and videos can be sent to friends and family in no time via WhatsApp. Videos that you have shot yourself that capture funny or beautiful moments and on which you can hear voices are particularly popular. But sometimes things can be heard in the background on videos that may not be for everyone’s ears. And this is where the new WhatsApp function comes into play.
New video function on WhatsApp
You can save yourself the embarrassment in the future. Because how WABetaInfo reported on his blog, a new function has been found in the beta version 2.21.3.13 of WhatsApp. This allows you to mute videos before sending them. This mainly applies to self-made videos that are to be shared via Messenger.
So far, WhatsApp has “only” had the option of cutting the video, adding stickers or something similar, or marking something. Muting should also be possible in the Messenger editor and should be indicated by a loudspeaker symbol. If you press the symbol, the audio track is deactivated. You can easily undo this by pressing the speaker again. The mute function is also available in the same version on Instagram, for example, if you want to share a video in the story.
According to WABetaInfo, the function has so far only appeared in the Android version. It is still unclear when WhatsApp will roll out the mute function and make it available for iOS.
Negative headlines determine the picture
In recent weeks, WhatsApp has attracted attention again and again, especially with negative headlines. Not only because of the new usage guidelines and data protection regulations that have now been postponed. Fraudsters have also used the messenger and not only stolen user accounts, but also spread unsettling chain letters among the population. A worm recently lured users into a malware trap.
