Then, the next day, still in the same area, a gang of around twenty individuals had set two buses on fire urban centers of the TCL network on avenue du Général Leclerc.
The police had also been targeted, with one officer being “seriously injured in the eye”, according to the mayor of the town, Alexandre Vincendet.
The authorities announced the arrests of nine suspects linked to the events of these two sad evenings which ended with the banning of transport services in the sector until November 11.

The mayor serves the screw
Alexandre Vincendet, Horizons mayor of Rillieux-la-Pape, quickly targeted the families of the miners arrested and involved: “The parents must assume their responsibility, otherwise expulsion from the social housing stock and end of municipal aid.”
And on the set of BFM Lyon this Thursday evening, during the show Lyon Politiques in partnership with news Lyonthe elected official first assured that one of the accused was sentenced to “ four months in prison with warrant of committal, plus revocation of a six-month suspended sentence, in immediate appearance last Monday” before the Lyon judicial court.
First families dispossessed of social housing?
Still on the sanctions, Alexandre Vincendet assured that he had signed letters to the parents of four minors, aged 13 to 17who were arrested during the All Saints’ Day riots last week.
“The contract that will be given to them will be very clear: given the arrests of their children, or they accept that we accompany them so that we understand the problem and see how we can get the child back on track. But if they ever refuse, on the other hand administratively, I have every right to suspend municipal aid : access to driving license assistance, access to the social grocery store.”
Sanctions which could go as far as withdrawal of social housing according to the elected official.
Four families have been involved since last year, including one behind the attempted fire at the media library during the 2023 riots, others over attacks on police officers. We are working with the prefecture and the lessor, a procedure before civil justice is underway for the termination of this lease. And then, justice decides.
