This mod for The Witcher 3 gives Vesemir a more gritty look, following early concept art

In the original concept art for The Witcher 3, Vesemir’s armor was painted in brighter colors (brighter, lighter brown shoulders and pants, and a red tunic underneath), and looked much older and menacing, befitting his role of grumpy grandfather. In the final version, his armor is done in more subdued colors, which gives his set a washed-out, second-hand look, quite fitting for a seasoned witcher.

However, one fan liked this concept so much that he decided to bring this look to the remastered version of The Witcher 3. Vesemir has a skinnier face, looks older, has more wrinkles, has brighter clothes, and a color scheme closer to concept art. He almost completely repeats the original design and feels right at home in the most colorful world of The Witcher 3.

“They already appeared in the prologue of the first game, but the engine has changed a lot since then, and therefore Geralt’s friends – Eskel and Lambert, as well as his teacher and mentor Vesemir – had to be created almost from scratch,” says the description of the concept art. “However, for continuity, the old sketches and models of witcher faces made for the first game have been used as a starting point for new concepts and models.”

The concept art says they wanted to convey Vesemir’s indescribable age – we know he’s an old man, but how old is he? Nobody knows. He’s been around for a long time and his armor was designed with that in mind. However, when he’s not grumbling, he’s a friend and mentor, and the colorful set reflects that right from the start. So, Vesemir concept recolor armor… enhance skin and armor details, rework facial textures… hair color, making it whiter, [и] add beard.
