This manufacturer is now discontinuing its services

BlackBerry was the cell phone manufacturer for all business people worldwide in the early 2000s. The QWERTY keyboard and secure and practical solutions for mobile e-mails set BlackBerry cell phones apart. The Canadians also had their own smartphone operating system called BB 10 in 2011. However, it was not successful and the manufacturer slipped into insignificance. The end now culminates in the final end at the beginning of this year.

BlackBerry is now finally disappearing

There hasn’t been a new BlackBerry smartphone for three years now. The manufacturer completed production after the DTEK60 from 2016 and from then on only focused on security software solutions. Nevertheless, customers were promised that they would continue to support the devices with updates and the like even after production was discontinued. This support ends tomorrow, January 4th, like the Canadians on theirs website announce.

In addition, BlackBerry is also separating from all other services that users have been able to use up to now. As a result, the in-house service BB Messenger, SMS, phone calls and emergency calls will no longer be available after the deadline has expired. BlackBerry cell phones then become useless and their use is risky, as Android updates are no longer rolled out either.

It is even more serious for those who still have a BlackBerry email account. These services will also be history from next year. Important to know: The company will not forward any emails after January 4th. So do you have an email address with @ myblackberry.com or @[netzbetreiber einfügen].blackberry.com, you should switch to another provider as soon as possible and before the deadline.

You can still use that

According to his own statement, the end of support does not affect the services BlackBerry Password Keeper, BBM for Enterprise, BBM Enterprise for Individual Use and BlackBerry Protect. BlackBerry smartphones with Android as the operating system also remain active. You can therefore continue to use them this year without hesitation.

The Canadians launched the first BlackBerry with the 8100 Pearl model at the end of 2006. In 2018, the Chinese manufacturer TCL last launched the brand’s last smartphones under the name BlackBerry Mobile, including the KEY models. But this series was also discontinued in 2020. The Texan company OnwardMobility, which also wants to bring a new smartphone onto the market under the brand name BlackBerry, is daring a new attempt. The device was announced for 2021, but to date there has been no further news about the future BlackBerry smartphone.
