This man had a stroke after a free head massage at the barber

Jakarta –

The incident happened to a 30-year-old man in Ballari, Karnataka, India. He suffered a stroke after receiving a free head massage at a barber shop.

Quoted from Times of India, this man was initially experiencing severe pain in his head and neck, but he ignored this. His condition worsened a few hours after the massage.

The man had difficulty speaking and suddenly the left side of his body became weak. This worried him and he decided to go to the hospital to get medical help.

There is an Artery Tear

After examining his condition, doctors diagnosed the man with a stroke caused by a torn carotid artery due to aggressive neck movements.

Doctors explained that this stroke occurred as a result of damaged blood vessel walls, thus reducing blood flow to the brain. Sudden and forceful movements of the neck can cause stroke and even death.

He received anticoagulant treatment to prevent further complications. The man spent almost two months in the hospital until he was allowed to return home.

What causes a stroke?

Quoted from the Mayo Clinic, there are two main reasons why someone gets a stroke.

The first is an ischemic stroke caused by blocked arteries in the brain. This stroke occurs when the blood vessels in the brain are narrowed or blocked. This causes reduced blood flow, known as ischemia.

Then there is a hemorrhagic stroke caused by a leak or rupture of a blood vessel in the brain. Bleeding inside the brain, called cerebral hemorrhage, can be caused by various conditions such as high blood pressure, head trauma, protein deposits in the walls of blood vessels, and others.

Among the symptoms that may appear along with a stroke

• Difficulty speaking and understanding what other people are saying
• There is numbness, muscle weakness, or paralysis in the face, arms or legs
• Vision problems in one or both eyes
• Headache
• Difficulty walking
