After a long stop due to the coronavirus pandemic that paralyzed the world, the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) located in the Bronx announced that the exhibition dedicated to the famous Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama It will finally be held on April 10 and will run until October 31.
The show, titled Kusama: Cosmic Nature will feature four different experiences installed in the interior and exterior spaces of the sprawling garden and will include “Infinity Mirrored Room — Illusion Inside the Heart” (2020), a new iteration of Kusama’s series of immersive installations consisting of a similar glass structure. to a cube with a reflective surface perforated by small holes.
Of course, admission to the facility will depend on the security measures in place in New York City as the date of the exhibition approaches. In addition, and for reasons of protocol, the NYBG clarified that it will offer a limited number of tickets that will be sold in a staggered manner to avoid crowds in the various spaces and to promote social distance among attendees.
In conversations with The Art Newspaper, an employee of the Botanical Garden declared: “Managing density within the garden has been an important consideration. Entries will be limited to no more than 33% of capacity for outdoor spaces and no more than 25% of capacity for enclosed spaces.”
The exhibition will also include never-before-seen archival material and other works such as monolithic biomorphic figures and the artist’s signature polka dot designs on extravagant sculpted plants and flowers. Last year, on the subject of rescheduling the exhibit, Kusama had this to say: “The passion that I and the NYBG members have put into this exhibit continues to burn. [y] I hope everyone waits. “
