Thousands of beneficiaries of Social Security payments in the United States will receive their checks later than expected in the month of December. Because? As is known, the Social Security Administration establishes a division between retirees into two fundamental groups. It has already been reported that the first of them will obtain their payment on the agreed date.
The aforementioned first group is made up of beneficiaries whose dates of retirement or eligibility for Social Security are prior to 1997. In this case it is not divided into subgroups, hence all retirees prior to that year collect the check on the same date. The chosen day is the coming December 1st.
Meanwhile, the other group of retirees, after 1997, is in turn divided into three different subgroups. Unfortunately, one of them will not receive their monthly check before Christmas. The rest could receive it, although it is not totally sure either.
Payment dates
The Administration remembers the payment dates for the aforementioned groups of retirees.
-December 13: It is the second Wednesday of the month and falls in the third week, later than usual. The payment will be given to retirees who were born between the 1st and 10th of any month of the year.
-December 20: Retirees born between the 11th and 20th of any month of the year could collect the check before Christmas. This will only happen if you activate payment through Direct Deposit.
-December 27: retirees who were born between the 21st and 31st of any month of the year will be paid that day. Those who began receiving Social Security payments after 1997 also benefit. This is exactly the group that will not receive their money before Christmas.
