This is why large cc luxury cars will be prohibited from drinking Pertalite

Jakarta

Cars with large engine cubication capacity will be prohibited from using Pertalite type of fuel oil (BBM). Head of BPH Migas Erika Retnowati said that a car with a large cc would consume more fuel. However, the decision is not unanimous.

BPH Migas together with Gadjah Mada University are still formulating the number of cc of cars that will be prohibited from consuming Pertalite. This prohibition is intended to make Pertalite with a Research Octane Number (RON) 90 more targeted.

“The price of Pertalite is still below the economic price and the government must provide compensation and it is intended for the poor. Luxury cars are certainly not allowed,” said Erika.

On the other hand, the volume of Pertalite as a Special Assignment Fuel Oil Type (JBKP) has been determined. Therefore, it is necessary to regulate its use so that it does not explode.

Erika has not yet detailed the details of the vehicle specifications that will be prohibited from buying Pertalite. The Pertalite is suitable for cars with an engine compression ratio of 9:1 to 10:1. Cars with engine compression ratios are arguably not necessarily classified as large cc and luxury cars.

Citing the Daihatsu Indonesia page, many cars with an engine compression ratio of 9:1 are found on alerts below 2014. While for those above, many engine compression ratios are already above 10:1. Even for now there are several cars that carry a small cc but have been equipped with a turbo engine. The Pertalite ban policy can certainly be difficult for non-luxury car owners, but the engine compression ratio is 9:1-10:1.

Previously, BPH Migas Committee Member Saleh Abdurrahman explained that his party was still discussing the criteria for a car to be considered a luxury car. Saleh explained that Pertalite is a type of special assignment fuel (JBKP). With this status, the quota is limited and the price is set.

“Is it okay to have black plate cars but not luxury ones? What are the criteria for luxury, whether to follow the Ministry of Finance, VAT on luxury goods, is our study,” Saleh was quoted as saying by detikFinance.
