This is why Frankfurt is sliding down the ranking of cities

Frankfurt was particularly affected by the crown pandemic: jobs were cut at both Frankfurt Airport and at the Frankfurt Messe.

The stock exchange, the banks, the largest airport in Germany, an important hub for long-distance trains: in fact, Frankfurt has everything to be prepared for the future.

But in the latest edition of what is probably the most important German regional ranking, Frankfurt is relegated from the Champions League: in the Prognos Zukunftsatlas 2022 Frankfurt slips from 10th place to 20th place among the 400 administrative districts and urban districts of the republic.

The city no longer belongs to the category of “best chances” – although the Prognos Frankfurt economic institute continues to attest to “very good chances” of positive economic development. Because the main metropolis is sinking in the ranking of cities.
