August 2021 will be the last month of existence Cheetos, Doritos, to Lays in Indonesia. However, the snack brand belonging to the Fritolay company under PepsiCo can still be found in many other countries.

In Indonesia, Cheetos, Doritos, and Lays have been produced by Indofood Fritolay (IFL) for the last 30 years. The company was formed as a result of cooperation PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP) with its business partner from the United States (US), namely Fritolay which is a subsidiary of PepsiCo.

Indofood Fritolay, which was originally jointly owned by ICBP and Fritolay, has been fully owned by ICBP since February 2021. The ownership of other shareholders, including Fritolay, was redeemed by ICBP for Rp 494 billion. Because IFL is now fully owned PT Indofood CBP, cooperation with Fritolay ended.

Even so, the IFL can still use the Cheetos, Doritos, and Lays brands for six months or until August 2021. “Furthermore, IFL will stop the production, packaging, marketing, sales and distribution of PepsiCo products in Indonesia in August 2021,” said IFL management in an official statement received coil, Thursday (18/2).

Furthermore, for three years from August 2021, PepsiCo and its affiliates have agreed not to produce, package, sell, market or distribute snack products that compete with IFL products in Indonesia. Snacks that will be discontinued include Lays, Doritos, and Cheetos.

In addition to Indonesia, previously Fritolay also expanded to various countries in the world to produce homemade snacks. Starting from the Americas, Australia, to Asia and the Middle East, including in Israel. No wonder if Cheetos, Doritos, and Lays can still be found in many countries.

Citing the company’s official website, Cheetos for example, has been produced in Brazil since 1976. Meanwhile in Australia, the savory cheese-coated corn snack has been marketed since 1980. Cheetos have also been the first US snack, made and distributed in China since 1994.

The same thing was also done for Lays products. Even in addition to different flavor variants, brands in several countries also do not have to use the name ‘Lays’. This potato chip snack in Israel, for example, is called Tapuchips. While in Argentina initially sold under the Frenchitas brand. Brand new Lays used since 2001.

While in Serbia the brand is Chipsy and in Columbia Margarita. Lays or other brands used locally, manufactured and marketed in 21 countries of the world.—- .
