Algerian international Ismaël Bennacer, under contract with AC Milan until 2027, was at the center of many rumors during the last summer transfer window. Clubs such as Olympique de Marseille, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, as well as Saudi Arabian teams have shown interest in the midfielder. However, Bennacer has never seriously considered leaving the Lombard club.
Enzo Raiola, agent the Bennacerrecently clarified this situation in an interview with Allsportsstating that the player wanted above all to stay at Milan. “There were discussions with several clubs this summer, but Ismaël never questioned his desire to continue with AC Milan. He is happy in Milan, and leaving a club of this stature is not an easy decision.. Not everyone can go to Saudi Arabia, and it was not a serious option for him.”said Raiola. This statement echoes the rumors that linked Bennacer to a departure towards theMarseille Olympics. If the Marseille club could return to the charge this winter, the player’s injury could well complicate this scenario.
The recent injury of Bennacerwhich occurred during a qualifying match for the African Cup of Nations against the Equatorial Guineahas disrupted his short-term plans. TheAC Milan announced that the player underwent calf surgery in Finland and that his unavailability is estimated at four months. This setback is a hard blow not only for the Italian club, but also for the Algerian national team, which will have to do without his talent until 2025.
