This is when Super Nintendo World opens in the United States

Universal Studios announced last year that Mario would also be coming to its parks outside of Japan. Super Nintendo World was supposed to open in Orlando first, but that opening has been postponed.

According to the official announcement, the area will be a “visual spectacle of vibrant colors and imaginative architecture, located in a newly expanded area of the theme park, featuring a groundbreaking attraction and interactive areas for the whole family to enjoy.” Of course there will also be shops and eateries in the Mario theme.

What does Super Nintendo World Japan look like?

In Universal Studios Japan, a Warp Pipe connects the rest of the park to Super Nintendo World. With a special bracelet, the Power-Up Band, you can collect points by hitting blocks, for example. You can keep track of your points via an app. It really does feel like you’re in a video game.

At the moment there are only two rides left: a roller coaster inspired by Mario Kart in Bowser’s castle and one where you and Yoshi go in search of Captain Toad. There is also much more to do with mini-games to collect points with your Power-Up Band. And of course you can also meet Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad.

If you’re hungry, head to Toad’s restaurant, where you can see the Mushroom Kingdom through the windows. Instead of the amusement park, you’ll see an animated world where several Toads are running around.

The Hollywood version won’t be an exact copy of the Japanese version, but it will give you an idea of what to expect.
