This is what we can expect from Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge tonight during the press conference about the corona measures

Outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Health Care Minister Hugo de Jonge will give a press conference on the corona measures on Tuesday evening. What can we expect?

It seems to be Wednesday 28 April that we will be allowed to go out on the terrace again, universities of applied sciences will be able to welcome their students and that after 10 p.m. it will be allowed to go out on the street again. An insider reports that the cabinet is slightly more positive about the date of April 28 to implement the first relaxation.

It is not yet certain whether all relaxation can be implemented at once. For example, it is possible that the shops still have to wait.

Curfew

Curfew goes off first. That would mean that on April 28, after almost three months, we would be allowed to go out into the night again. The controversial curfew went into effect on Saturday, January 23.

Visit arrangement

The current visiting arrangement with one visitor per day will probably be expanded. You can then receive two visitors a day at home.

Terraces and shops

Perhaps that cold beer on the terrace will finally be there from 28 April. This should be done under strict conditions. For example, it probably concerns a maximum of two visitors per table from one household. Also, the terraces should probably close at 6pm.

Shops will probably also receive more visitors from next week. Non-essential stores are allowed to receive customers as usual, although they must have an ‘active door policy’ to avoid crowds.

Higher education

Students from colleges and universities may physically attend lectures at least one day a week from 26 April. They have been completely at home since mid-December.

The next steps

If the easing continues, we can look at step two of the plan to get our country out of the hard lockdown. This second step will be taken on May 11 at the earliest. For this to happen, the number of new hospital admissions of corona patients must have clearly decreased further.

Then, for example, more is possible when it comes to indoor sports. Amusement parks and zoos can be opened under certain conditions and arts and culture are permitted indoors.

This is followed by the third step in which even more is allowed in, such as opening restaurants, cinemas and museums under certain conditions. A maximum number of guests or visitors still applies for this. In the steps that follow, this number is increased.

The press conference can be followed live on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. on the website of Dagblad van het Noorden.
