This is what we are (not) allowed to see in Tibet

Tibet has been virtually cut off from the outside world for years. But every now and then China organizes a press trip, and journalists are allowed to watch the Tibetans under strict supervision.

After six years in China, our correspondent Sjoerd den Daas is finally allowed to join us on such a journey. For five days he goes on the bus, off the bus. Every hour of the schedule is fixed, going out on your own is not an option. He travels through the land of Mount Everest, of monks, the yak and the Dalai Lama. It is not easy, because speaking freely does not seem to be an option for the residents. A Tibetan even locks himself in the toilet when Den Daas asks him a question.

In the video this video Den Daas takes you through one of the most hidden regions of the world for five days. What is there to see, also behind the scenes? And why is Tibet so important to China? Watch it here:
