This is what the Neowise comet looked like in the Peruvian sky

This Thursday it was possible to appreciate the passage of comet C / 2020 F3 (Neowise) in the southern Andes of Peru, exactly in the populated center of Cambrune, located about 4,500 meters above sea level, in the Carumas district, Moquegua.

The images were captured by Dr. Astronomía Erick Meza, in charge of the Moquegua Astronomical Observatory of the Peruvian Space Agency – CONIDA, who explained that we could observe the passage of this kite from today July 23 to 31 of this month in some places in Peru.

“He Kite It is very low on the horizon and as the days go by, its height will increase, but its brightness will also decrease. To this we have to add the climatic conditions and the sensitivity of the human eye. I suggest that they make an attempt to observe and photograph it, ”Erick Meza told Andina.

Likewise, the astronomer recommended that it would be ideal to observe it with 70 × 50 binoculars or small telescopes. “To locate it we will have to look towards the Northwest a few degrees above the horizon, if they do not have a compass, they could be helped by an application for cell phones that as you observe the horizon on the screen indicates the cardinal points. Additionally, there are online websites and free programs that show and simulate heaven, “said Meza.

Comet C / 2020 F3 or better known as Comet Neowise, was discovered on March 27, 2020 by NASA’s mission “NASA’s Near-Field Wide Field Infrared Explorer”, and they report that it will not pass the Earth for about 6,800 years.
