While Windows 12 is expected to be released in 2024, Microsoft shared a screenshot during a conference. This would be the first preview of the interface of the future operating system. A few aesthetic changes are obvious when looking at the image up close.
While Windows 11 is still far from having invested all the machines, the first rumors around its successor are already out. Windows 12 should be released in 2024, a rather quick arrival, Windows 11 having been released on October 5, 2021. The future OS, known under the code name Next Valley, would have already been unveiled during Microsoft’s Ignite conference. The Redmond firm showed a preview of a different interface than the one we are currently familiar with.
What will Windows 12 look like?
We thus observe a floating taskbar with rounded corners. In addition, a search bar, also floating, nestles in the center of the upper part of the screen. Contextual information such as time, date, WiFi network and remaining battery settle in the upper right corner like macOS. The metrological information is placed in the upper left corner.

Microsoft wants to completely disrupt the user experience by taking advantage of AI. Having invested in OpenAI, the manufacturer will notably use ChatGPT. Several AI-focused features could take the form of recommendations and alerts in the Redmond giant’s various apps.
