Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Gladiator 2 – one of the most anticipated films of the year. The footage has clearly struck a chord with viewers, with many saying it looks much better than the trailer from July.
The two-and-a-half-minute film is packed with scenes of battles, duels and intrigues in the heart of the Roman Empire. We see naval clashes, a city siege involving catapults and ships, gladiator clashes with animals and, finally, even a reenactment of a naval battle in the Colosseum.
Of course, the whole thing is accompanied by epic music, composed not by Hans Zimmer – the creator of the original soundtrack – but by Harry Gregson-Williams. According to commentators, the new trailer looks much better than the first one, published in July.
„Very well made trailer. This is how you give hype and atmosphere to the film” – we read under the recording. Whether the rest of Ridley Scott’s spectacle will do just as well remains to be seen. We will find out on November 22, when Gladiator 2 hits cinemas.
The plot of the sequel revolves around Lucius – the nephew of Commodus, the protagonist of the first part. The adult hero now lives a peaceful life in African Numidia, in the company of his wife and child. The idyll quickly ends when the lands are invaded by Roman troops led by General Marcus Acadius.
Although the premiere of the show is still almost two months away, Ridley Scott is already making plans to create a “three”. It is possible that the cult film from 2000 will finally get its own trilogy.
