This week, the Dortmunder U is once again offering free events: live music, Simpsons quiz, children’s book readings and the RuhrFolkFestival – all in the open air.
Electronic sounds open the week
The penultimate week of the summer festival “Sommer am U” will kick off on Wednesday, August 21st with MONYA, who will present her new album “Euphoria” with a live performance at 7 p.m. on the forecourt of the Dortmunder U. Afterwards, Udo Wiessmann will take over with a DJ set that will accompany the visitors into the night.

Cult series in focus: Simpsons quiz at “Little Friday”
On Thursday, August 22nd, everything at the Weitwinkel art library in the Dortmunder U will revolve around the cult series “The Simpsons”. The Simpsons quiz, aimed at true connoisseurs of the yellow family, will start at 7 p.m. as part of the “Little Friday” series of events. Please register in advance by email: [email protected].
Groove and trap create a good atmosphere
On Friday, August 23rd, the forecourt of the Dortmunder U will be transformed into a stage for groove and trap from 7 p.m. Gitti will open the evening with a performance that combines Chicago house and global influences. Afterwards, Lesola and Black Friction will heat up the audience even more with their DJ sets.
Children’s book reading for the youngest
On Saturday, August 24, the Weitwinkel art library will be a place for little explorers. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., influencer Alexandra Kryaneva will read from “The Snail and the Humpback Whale.” Children aged 4 to 6 will be taken into an exciting sea world. Conclusion with the RuhrFolkFestival
The weekend ends on Sunday, August 25th, with the RuhrFolkFestival on the forecourt of the Dortmunder U. From 5 p.m., “Die Feuersteins” and “Bluegrass Cash” will perform, bringing traditional and modern sounds together. To round off the evening at 7:30 p.m., all artists will play together with the BierCaféWest Session Band.
