Respiratory complaints and fever
People with the corona virus have respiratory complaints and fever. They have to cough or are short of breath, RIVM writes. The disease can be transmitted from person to person. The virus comes out of the nose, throat or lungs due to coughing and sneezing. The sicker someone is, the more virus the patient can spread.

Incubation time
The RIVM assumes that the coronavirus has an average incubation time of seven days, up to a maximum of fourteen days. The incubation period is the time between the moment you become infected and you become sick.

Research into the environment
If someone has been affected, the GGD investigates which people the patient has been in contact with recently. To prevent a further outbreak, these people are monitored and have to take their temperature twice a day and report this to the GGD.

In this video, RIVM explains how this contact investigation proceeds.
