A new blue label offers users even more content on current trending topics in the feed – and encourages searching on threads. However, this is only available to a limited extent for the time being.
Even more context, even more content for users and a further step towards a comprehensive information medium: Threads wants to promote content discovery and the search for currently relevant topics on the platform with a new blue label.
What the blue label is all about
Social media platforms have long since become digital spaces that users use for research, viewing news and general searches. Many users also rely on platforms that are close to the pulse of the times for up-to-the-minute information and events in real time, such as X or TikTok (as is currently the case in the context of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris). There is now a new label so that users can also engage with even more posts on trending topics on Threads, Meta’s X competitor, and discover them for the first time.
As Instagram boss Adam Mosseri explains in a post, a blue label will be introduced that will be integrated above some posts. This label, complete with a magnifying glass icon as a symbol for searching, refers to a current trending topic. And when users tap on the label, they are taken to further posts on this topic. This way, a search option will be integrated directly into the post feed – initially only in the USA.
