Dune director Denis Villeneuve has confirmed exciting news for fans of the epic saga.
During a recent interview, he revealed that Florence Pugh, one of the stars of Dune: Part Two, will play an even bigger role in the potential Dune 3.
In the sequel, the actress plays Princess Irulan, a character who, although she does not have a prominent role in this installment, Villeneuve has made it clear that her importance will grow in future installments, especially in a possible Dune Messiah.

In an interview with Moviefone Denis explained:
“I wanted to create a character who had inner strength and was never perceived as a victim. “I wanted an actress who could convey just with the way she is listening.”
He continued: “I wanted someone with a strong presence that the audience could see just in the way she witnessed events or heard other characters, that they felt her presence in their own journey, but she is more of a witness in this story. ”
He went on to relate: “Of course, if there is a Dune Messiah like we planned, she will become one of the featured characters in that entire series. I’m doing a little bit of what I did with Zendaya in the first movie.”
‘‘I introduced Chani in Dune and then she becomes one of the main characters in the second part. I do the same with Florence, I just introduced her in the second part and if there is a Messiah of Dune, she becomes one of the main characters”, he concluded.
Pugh’s words
On the other hand, Florence has confirmed that her role in the sequel was intentionally small: “It didn’t matter how big my role was… When I was chatting with Denis, he kept apologizing and saying, ‘In this one, it’s really not a big role. I won’t be offended. I told him: ‘I don’t care! I just want to come see you work. This is a dream'”.
