The organizers of the festival tried out the project last year, when they had to cancel the entire year of the prestigious film event due to the pandemic. Needless to say, with great success. That’s why they decided to repeat it this year.

As in the previous year, each film will be shown only once in the participating cinemas, on the same day and time. The selected screenings will be followed by interviews with the creators, broadcast live to all cinemas that took part in the show.

“Last year, almost 100 cinemas across the country allowed us to hold a ‘replacement year’ at the Karlovy Vary festival. What started unhappily for us ended greatly than expected. Thanks to the TADY VARY event, we were given the opportunity to see many cinemas in person, meet the people behind them, as well as spectators, and experience the adventures we still remember. Immediately after its completion, we knew that we wanted to stay in touch with cinemas and through them to bring festival films and the atmosphere closer to them. And so this year we are returning with TADY VARY 21. And I am sincerely pleased with the interest of the cinematographers, ”comments Jiří Bartoška, President of the KV IFF.
