The Swede was presented as the new coach at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
– Incredibly cool to be here. It has been a long process. We have talked a lot, says Andersson.
– I’m here to win the championship. That’s what matters.
Andersson has signed a three-year contract with the Oslo club.
TV 2 was able to reveal in early May that Swedish Fredrik Andersson had been contacted by Vålerenga Ice Hockey with a request if he could consider becoming their head coach.
– It means everything to get a new coach in place. A process that has lasted for two and a half months. Very happy that it fell into place, says Anders Myhrvold to TV 2. He is a board member of the club.
– There have been many offers. I think it triggers him very much that Vålerenga has not won in thirteen years, he says.
