The car market in Indonesia is indeed dominated by the type of Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), it is natural that the production kitchen in the factory is filled with MPV cars to meet these needs. However, the opposite is true when talking about Toyota Indonesia’s export market.
It turns out that it is not the type of MPV made in Indonesia that is the mainstay of Toyota Indonesia’s export market, but the type of SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). As stated by the Director of External Affairs for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Bob Azam, to detikOto.
“Vehicles created by national HR have been trusted by global consumers in more than 80 countries spread across Asia, Africa, America, the UAE, to various other regions. For SUV types (Fortuner, Rush and Riaze) reaching 90,000 units, MPV (Kijang Innova, Sienta, Avanza, Town/Lite Ace) reached 36,000 units, Sedan Type, Hatchback, LCGC (Vios, Yaris, Agya) reached 62,000 units,” said Bob Azam.
Bob added that Toyota Indonesia continues to strive to increase the number of export destinations.
“We always support efforts to improve the export performance of domestic automotive products and always explore opportunities for greater export destinations. Regarding exports to Australia, please contact the Minister of Industry for more detailed information,” Bob added.

“Last year, domestic was 2020, more or less 50%, while 70% was for export. If we look at last year’s figures, exports recovered quickly. But this year it’s almost the same, export and domestic. And this is due to PPnBM incentives given by the government,” said Bob again.
