Now, when the price of fuel oil (BBM) is rising, choosing a small car with the choice of a small engine may be an option, in addition to electric cars of course. However, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor as Daihatsu Brand Holder Agent (APM) in Indonesia, which sold Kei Cars, explained that selling small cars in Indonesia is not easy.
Also, Kei Car Daihatsu, aka Copen, was either imported with the CBU (Completely Build Up) system or imported in its entirety as a car in Indonesia, this pushed the price up so much that the sales weren’t too good because it became a dorsal model.

As stated by Astra Daihatsu Motor’s director of marketing and corporate communications and planning (ADM), Sri Agung Handayani, Daihatsu Copen only sold 19 units during the sale.

“Since it launched in 2015 in Indonesia, 19 units have been sold until 2018,” Agung said.
Looking at existing sales, Daihatsu also confirms that it is not yet willing to sell the Kei Car in Indonesia.
“Daihatsu has no plans to include the Kei Car model in Indonesia,” Agung added.
Obviously it is no coincidence that Daihatsu no longer sells Copen in Indonesia, Daihatsu considers that the Indonesian market is not suitable for Kei Car.
“The Kei Car, which is a compact car and has a displacement of less than 660cc and can accommodate 5 passengers, has a different character in the Japanese market than ours, considering that Indonesians prefer vehicles that can accommodate 7 passengers and a minimum engine. of 1,000 cc, “Agung said.
