Journalist and writer Juan Gossain Abdala has been at his home in Cartagena since December 16, after leaving the Serena del Mar Hospital Center. He is recovering satisfactorily after more than three months of being hospitalized. The prodigious storyteller celebrates his 74 years with his family. The family and his closest friends have kept prudent and wise silence because the doctors recommend rest for his recovery. And the good news is that Master Gossain is recovering from his health breakdown.

Juan Gossain is one of the great writers of the Caribbean and Colombia, and one of the virtuosos of the spoken and written word throughout the continent.

Juan Gossain was admitted in 2022 Number Member of the Colombian Academy of Language, for “his literary and linguistic merits”.

Not only is he one of the greatest and most renowned chroniclers of the Caribbean and the country, it is a commonplace to remember him now, but it goes without saying that he is one of the great Colombian writers, and one of the virtuosos of the spoken and written word in the whole continent.

He is the author of the novels La mala hierba (1982), La balada de María Abdala (2003), At the end of the dream (2006) and La muerte de Bolatristre (2004); the storybooks Puro cuento (2004), Etcétera (2008), and the chronicles books La memoria del alcatraz (1989), The most beautiful words and other stories about language (2018), these last three books published in Intermedio Editores .
