Azim Hashim Premji is one Indian Muslim businessman famous philanthropist.

He was recorded to have donated IDR 28.6 trillion in 2020 where the donation was 10 times more than the contribution of the richest person in Asia, Mukesh Ambani.

Then, how rich is Azim Premji to be able to donate trillions of money to help the poor in India? What is the source of income?


according to Forbes, Azim Premji’s wealth is more than IDR 136 trillion and 70 percent of that wealth comes from Wipro.

Wipro, formerly known as Indian Vegetable Products Ltd, is a company founded by Azim’s father, Muhammad Hashim Premji.

Azim, who took on the task at the age of 21, then diversified the company, which is engaged in manufacturing hydrogenated oil, into bread fat, ethnic basic toiletries, grooming soap, and baby supplies.

He also changed the company name to Wipro in 1977. In 1980, Wipro began to penetrate the IT world and provide software for computer hardware.

In 1999, Wipro became the only Indian computer manufacturing company to receive qualified certification from the National Software Testing Laboratory in the US.

His hard work has turned Wipro from an ordinary $2 million retail company in the 1960s into a conglomerate that includes several businesses that generate $7 billion in revenue, an increase of 3,500 times.

His wealth even made his name included in the the list of Richest People in India 2020 at 15th, 2017’s Richest Entrepreneur in Technology 15th, and 2021’s billionaire at 288th.

In 2019 Azim Premji decided to step down as chairman of Wipro and has been replaced by his son, Rishad Premji.
