Ditlantas South Sulawesi Police revealed the reasons for the members traffic police who was carrying a PJR car, Aiptu MM was only passing by when there was an accident victim lying on the road in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi). Aiptu MM is said to be in a hurry to carry out an escort.
“In chronological terms, he was about to leave for an escort because one of the escort cars was damaged,” said Ditlantas Polda Sulsel Kombes Frans Santoe to detik.com, Wednesday (15/12/2021).
At that time, Aiptu MM was heading to his assignment location in Libureng, Bone Regency, or still far from the point where the accident victim was lying on the road in Bulukumba.
“In fact, he told the (Bulukumba) Police that there was an accident here. But as a police officer, it shouldn’t have been enough to inform him because he had to stop helping the victim,” said Frans.
Frans himself did not provide further information about what escort Aiptu MM would do at that time. However, he said Aiptu MM himself realized and regretted his decision to prioritize the escort over helping the victim.
“In principle, he regrets that he has not stopped helping the victims,” said Frans.
Furthermore, Frans apologized for Aiptu MM’s mistake. He emphasized that Aiptu MM’s actions could not be justified.
“That’s why I convey to my friends in the media, please convey my apologies on behalf of the members for the incident,” said Frans.
“Then the Head of Traffic Unit has come to the victim’s house, including the Police Chief, to convey empathy for the victim,” he said again.
As previously reported, Aiptu MM’s actions that only passed the accident victims went viral on social media. Aiptu MM was then removed from his position as a member of the PJR Polda South Sulawesi in order to be investigated by Propam.
At that time, on the axis of the Bulukumba-Sinjai Regency, Bulukumpa District, on Saturday (11/12), the victim was identified as Nur Afni (19) lying on the road due to a hit and run.
Next, there was the sound of a traffic police car driven by Aiptu MM, so the residents thought that Aiptu MM would provide help. However, what the residents did not expect, the Aiptu MM patrol car was just passing by right next to the hit-and-run victim who was lying on the street.
