The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published a new drug list update that it considers essential for the treatment of covid symptoms. It is the fourth modification made by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), dependent on the Ministry of Health, since the pandemic began.
Initially, the AEMPS determined a List of drugs considered basic in the management of the health crisis caused by covid in a resolution of June 19, 2020. A second update was carried out in December of the same year, while the third took place last year in April, in which, among the measures regarding medicines, he highlighted “providing continuity to the obligation, adopted during the state alarm, of provision of information on those medicines considered essential for the health management of covid”.
The evolution of the pandemic “now allows us to propose modifications in control strategies”, according to a new ministerial order. “This evolution has been favored by the vaccination coverage that has been achieved in Spain and for the application of non-pharmacological measures to control the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 by the population until March 2022,” according to the text.
Thus, of the 32 drugs initially considered essential in the first list published in 2020, when the pandemic began, now Health reduces them to 12which are the following:
- Baricitinib: In packages of 2 mg tablets and 4 mg tablets.
- Cisatracurio besilato: 2 mg/ml injection 10 ml; 2 mg/ml injection 2.5 ml; 2 mg/ml injection 5 ml and 5 mg/ml injection 30 ml.
- Clonazepam: 1 mg inyectable 1 ml.
- Dexamethasone: 1 mg tablets; 4 mg tablets; 8 mg tablets; 20 mg tablets; 40 mg tablets; 4 mg injection 1 ml and 40 mg injection 5 ml.
- Fentanyl citrate: 50 micrograms/ml injection 3 ml.
- Methylprednisolone: 1.000 mg inyectable; 125 mg injection; 250 mg injection; 500 mg injection; 40 mg injection and 20 mg injection.
- Midazolam:5 mg; 15 mg; 50 mg inyectable 10 ml y Midazolam 100 mg.
- Propofol: 5 mg/ml inyectable 20 ml; 10 mg/ml inyectable 100 ml; 10 mg/ml inyectable 20 ml; 10 mg/ml inyectable 50 ml; 20 mg/ml inyectable 50 ml y20 mg/ml inyectable 100 ml.
- Remdesivir: 100 mg powder for solution for infusion.
- Remifentanilo: 1 mg injection; 2 mg injection and 5 mg injection.
- Rocuronio: 10 mg/ml injectable 10 ml and 10 mg/ml injectable 5 ml.
- Tocilizumab: 20 mg/ml concentrate for solution for infusion 10 ml and Tocilizumab 20 mg/ml concentrate for solution for infusion 4 ml.
