Mercadona is one of the most famous supermarkets in our country. It currently has 1,654 supermarkets, of which 1,637 are in Spain (with a presence in 52 provinces, as well as Ceuta and Melilla) and 14 in Portugal. The supermarket chain, owned by Juan Roig, has a total workforce of 90,000 workers (89,100 in Spain and 900 in Portugal) and it is the supermarket chain with the largest share in the distribution sector in Spain: 25.5%.
The brand was born in 1977 and since then it has been considered a clear example of success. One of the identities most related to Mercadona is its mythical tune that is usually heard in its establishments when a product is promoted. Also in some advertising campaign, although its presence in the media is limited. Who cannot reproduce in his mind the sound of ‘Mercadona – Mercadona’? Well, the woman who sings that tune has a name and surname and is a famous actress.
It is about Mamen García, popularly known by all Spaniards thanks to her roles in successful series such as ‘Marriage Scenes’, ‘Las chicas de oro’ or ‘Señoras del (h) AMPA’. TIt has also appeared more sporadically in ‘La que se avecina’ or ‘Tell me how it happened’. What few know is that in addition to succeeding in television and theater, Mamen García has also developed a professional career in the world of music. Interpreter and lyricist, she is also the producer of the albums “Y yo tambien a ti” and “Marzo”. For the memory are the vinyls of the group “Patxinger Z”, of which he was the vocalist. In 2010, he released a new album entitled “El Cofrecito”.
