The record for the most expensive car in the world was broken recently. Mercedes Benz became the brand owner of the record after releasing its classic and rare cars with a tag of 135 million euros, which is equivalent to more than IDR 2 trillion!
Quoted from CNN, the new Mercedes-Benaz car that broke the record as the most expensive car in the world is the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe prototypes, with the year of manufacture 1955. The car was released at a price of 135 million euros, or the equivalent of Rp. 2 trillion more ( two trillion fifty billion and six hundred and four million rupiah) to an unnamed person in a closed auction.
According to Hagerty (a company that tracks the value of collectible cars), the Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe is now the car with the most expensive price tag in the world. Beating the previous owner of the record, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO which in 2018 was sold for US $ 70 million (Rp 1.012 trillion).
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe prototypes were previously the longest at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, in Stuttgart, Germany.

The car was only made two pieces in the world, where one unit is still on display at the Mercedes-Benz museum. Uhlenhaut is named after Mercedes’ chief engineer when the car was built.
“Their race cars from the 1930s and 1950s are very rare and most of them are still owned by the factory. So when there is a sale on the market, the offer is very high,” said Brian Rabold, vice president of Hagerty.
Quoted from CNN International, the SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe is the highest version of the SLR racing cars released by Mercedes. Having 300 HP, this eight-cylinder car is capable of reaching a top speed of 300 km/hour.
